Major bands are Metallica, Korn, Kid Rock, and Powerman 5000 at the Summer Sanitarium show in 2000. We arrived late, so I missed System of a Down. Some local bands or small-time bands I've seen are Simon Says, Laurely, The Gears, Legs On Earth, Jimmi Accardi & The Wildcats... that's all I can remember. I would've seen Blind Guardian with Symphony X and Onward but that show got cancelled. I wanted to see Iced Earth, In Flames, and Jag Panzer but that show was on a school night, blergh. Other bands I've wanted to see and missed chances to are Dream Theater, Fates Warning, Queensryche, Iron Maiden, Dio, Motorhead, Deep Purple, and The Scorpions.
Hey just thought I'd post something in here. The only bands I've seen in concert are Everclear and Matchbox 20, they performed a joint concert, and Bare Naked Ladies. They had as their opening act a group which I'd never heard of called The Proclaimers, who are I think Scottish. They sing a song called something like "If I Had a Million Dollars." Some guy started chain-smoking right behind me though, so I left right in the middle.
Hey, the Proclaimers are those gous that did that song "I'm Gonna Be 500 Miles" they also did some stuff on the Shrek soundtrack, they're cool. Yeah, those smoker and drinker people at concerts can be annoying.
The two bands I've seen in Vancouver are AC DC, and Def Leppard. The AC DC show was the very first ever show I whent to, and as for Def Leppard, even a foot of snow didn't stop me from checking them out on January 10, 2000. I even got back Stage to meet the band, not to menchone being seven rows back from the sound board, and floor seets to top it all off!
The only concert that I actually remember going to was the Trans-Siberian Orchestra concert this plast November. Their cd's are great... live concerts are even better!! I wanted to go see Boston last summer, but something came up and I wasn't able to go... I was mad. I also missed the Journey/Styx/REO Speedwagon concert tour that came through utah last may... meh. One of these years.
That is all. Pax.
The All-American Rejects Limbeck Motion City Soundtrack Dashboard Confessional MxPx Brand New Vendetta Red John Mayer Counting Crows Maroon 5 Marc Anthony Jonny Was Crash Radio Wallace ... oh and NSYNC when i was a teenybopper
And I went to a giant radio festival in 2000 that had the standard pop acts at the time: Jessica Simpson Hanson NSYNC Sugar Ray Enrique Iglesias and those types of acts...
hey, nothing wroing with being a teenibopper...I'm stil a teenibopper at heart hehe!! my musical tastes have changed and matured a lot over the past year, but I've loved Nsync ever since 1998 and I say once an Nsync fan always an Nsync fan, hehe! I saw them in concert three times, twice in vancouver and once in tacoma. I've also seen the Moffats, and I just saw Kelly Clarkson and Clay Aiken last month.
canadian diva
I saw Nicle back in Montreal, it was amazing! Opening for them was 3 days grace and stained. I had soooooo much fun that night!
The Eagles (twice), Don Henley by himself (twice), Billy Joel, Elton John, Paul McCartney, Bruce Springstein, George Strait, Toby Keith, Simon and Garfunkel, Dan FFogelberg, Garth Brooks just to name a few...love live concerts.
Saw the Irish girl group Bewitched when they played at a local mall. Have also seen 98 degrees, Monicaa, Jewel, Third Eye Blind, Mariah Carey, Bowling for Soup, Tlc, and Simple Plan twice. The second time I saw Simple Plan they were performing with Sugarcult and Mxpx. And I've seen my friend's band many times too.
E.SO, Driver, One Witness AKA DeadX, CR33 AKA Convicted Resistance, Spikenard, Plumbline, Chosen, Furthermore, Calibretto 13 AKA Calibretto, Naos Project, Redline AKA Echocast, Dirt, Spoken, Passerby AKA Flyleaf, 10 Cent Offering, Solomon Splendor, Salt 7 AKA The Pilots, Straight Up, Paris, Lego, Neviah Nevi, and Pierced.
I've seen only country artists in concert LOL. So far I've seen Bryan White, Kenny Chesney, Phil Vassar, Jamie O Neil, and Montgomery Gentry.
I just saw Megadeth in concert this past Saturday! What a show! It was sooooo awesome and Dave Mustaine kicked as much ass as ever! I heard Demons & Wizards is releasing their next album before Blind Guardian does, so if they have a successful U.S. tour, that is if Jon Schaffer beats the crap out of any dickface tour managers, well let's just say either the group would be short a wizard or have a very short wizard after I was through with him, mihihihihihi!
Just went to my first concert last night, it was Green Day and Newfound Glory and it was the most incredible thing ever!
goodness, y'all have seen more concerts than me hahaha. Well here goes nothin. I saw backstreet boys, aaron carter twice, ewww... Emjay, Moffettes and finger 11!
Marilyn Manson. 5 times ..................Sopor Aeternus twice......Ataraxia 3........The Cult 1........
Iron Maiden 5.....Metallica 1 never again!..........Sisters of Mercy 1.........
cradle of filth 1.........Mortis 1 stunning gig!.Hmmm.....Lacrimosa 2...
Iron Mainden (we actually met them in a bar in Barclona in 1992, they gave us VIP passes to their concert, still a prominent item on my wall, fantastic concert)
Pulp (1995)
Blur (1996 and 1997)
Bjork (1995)
Radiohead (June 2001, August 2001, August 2003) .. incredible live band, well incredible band actually
Chumbawamba and Republica (2000) actually a very fun concert, missed Garbage playing the day after though .. grrr
Green day (2002) .. those guys are amazing live, recommend you check them out if you can
the Prodigy (1997) .. fun show!
Pixies (2004) .. I was blown away by this band, they are still in top form and their singer can scream like anything)
Tool (2001) .. pretty good concert, right after 9/11 so it was very freaky to be there, weird atmosphere, cool music, amazing drummer).
Live (2003) .. awesome band, their greatest hits is just coming out, I loved the concert
Sigur Ros (various occasions) I've seen those guys from our practice room in a garage in 1996 to ERvice Plaza, New York in 2001, they are incredibly good and they'll be touring the States and Europe next year after the release of their new album, I recommend you all check them out, amazing band.
... I think that's mostly it <grin> I'm sure I've left out stuff.
cheers

right, here goes. have you lot heard of Status quo? yes, they've been going for fourty years now, and they are still rockin' all over the world. still a dam good show after all these years, still on tour, and still f-ing fantastic! the quo army are still alive and well, if a little grey these days, well, there are young ppl coming in too, so things are getting young blood. Been to see status quo five times now and am going to see them again soon. Another band I like live is thunder. they split up for a bit, but are now back on the road, and that's dam fine stuff I can tell you, real rock. Meatloaf can take his fat ass somewhere else as far as live performances are concerned, went to a gig of his about eleven years ago and found him shit shit shit. It wasn't a concert, neither was it a show, it was two hours of f***k this f***k that, and yes sir, that might be acceptable in america, but this was wembley arena, england for f***k's sake! We! don't! get! off! on! that! Sh1t in england! WE like proper music! get back to your studio you ponse! Not slagging all american bands off though, went to see Bonn jovi in wales, and they were fantastic, dam hot day, nearly 30 degrees c, and a dam fine band bj were. caught the end of van hailen, as they were supporting, and they sounded pretty good. pissed off that I miss thunder that time, as they were supporting too. saw thunder at a local venu though, and they were dam fine too! now, let's talk about Peter Frampton, yes him of Humble pie. Waht a guitarist! and he can n'alf use a vocoda, yes shair, leave it to the exxperts! bfn.
I agree wqith you about M.L he's well past his sell by date, but Christ! Man status quo thats beyond the pale they play only 3 chords in each damn song how can you call such talentless numpties musicians..dear me.
I'd like to see your man play Bach's Toccata and Fuge on his "guitar"
Songs never have to be measured by the number of chords used or the guitarists technical abilities. I think "Rocking All Over the World" and "You're in the Army Now" are both excellent songs and I like Status Quo, not my favorite but they are good. Beatles hardly used more than 4 to 5 chords during their early years and they won over the world's auidence, I think equating simplicity with stupidty does not apply to music, after all there is a very limited number of chords that account for over 99% of all music and being unconventional does not have to lead to a better song. So I cannot agree with the argument that they suck just because they use simple song structures.

the thing is, even if quo use only three chords, that's not everything that should be considered. When status quo roll up and play in a tiny venu like my local theatre, they really rock the house, even though they've bearly got their set on stage as it is so large they need something like wembly arena to put the whole thing out. Status quo would be good with a keyboard, three guitars, a drum kit, an amp, a couple of speakers and a mixer to plug the lot into. They learned their trade in the clubs and pubs, and I think few bands these days can boast that. The first time most of these new bands go on stage is their first tour gig.
I just saw Vanessa Carlton in concert a few weeks ago for the second time at the same venue. She did very well. I actually sat with this other blind dude i didn't know right up close, because they saw my cane and let us. Lol. I hate to take advantage of that, but they made us sit there hehehe! And she came on stage like a foot away from us, walking up the steps! Lol! It was a great show. Caitlin
